Job Description:

The Graphic Design Intern is responsible for providing support for the marketing/communications department through a variety of channels, print, digital, web, and others as assigned. The Graphic Design intern will report to the Art Director and will assist with the development of core INDYCAR materials and a variety of creative tasks as assigned.

Specific Duties:

  • Create and design print and digital materials
  • Adhere to brand guidelines and complete projects according to deadline
  • Retouch and manipulate images
  • Use graphic design software and work with a wide variety of media
  • Collaborate with the Art Director to develop design concepts
  • Assemble final presentation material for printing as needed
  • Assist in scheduling projects and inputting into job tracking database
  • Files and maintains project digital archives and hard copy files
  • Attends meetings pertaining to individual projects or brainstorming
  • Contributing to team efforts by accomplishing tasks as needed
  • Other various office duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education

  • Attending or graduated from a four-year college or university in graphic design.

Skills/Experience

  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • Must be proficient in Macintosh based software: Adobe Creative Suite: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Flash and web design/html knowledge and experience also preferred
  • Must have ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Travel/Work Hours

  • General office hours are 8:30am-5pm, Monday-Friday; additional hours required on event days/weekends.

Marketing Intern

Job Description:

An INDYCAR Marketing internship is a paid position and is designed to provide an individual with real-world experience in consumer marketing, brand building, and digital promotion. This role will participate in marketing efforts, which can include traveling to various events where the role will interact with consumers and represent INDYCAR. Individuals will be immersed in a variety of activities including field marketing, advertising programs, media planning, assisting in the development of the INDYCAR website, content creation, delivering email marketing campaigns, and connecting with fans through social media for INDYCAR. In addition to the marketing department, this role will work closely with individuals in public and media relations.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Act as an INDYCAR brand ambassador at all times
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the INDYCAR brand and various teams, drivers and venues
  • Maintain department season-long and event-specific master schedules that monitor all race events, driver/sponsor/team events, and additional events organized by promotors and all other department stakeholders.
  • Plan and execute fan engagement events at race events, special events and other opportunities as assigned
  • Curate email campaign and content schedule; deliver email marketing messages and help organize the INDYCAR email database
  • Assist in coordinating content with other departments and organizations at INDYCAR as needed.
  • Provide ideas, contacts, suggestions on program improvement.
  • Serves an integral role in assisting with all areas of the marketing department.
  • Other duties as assigned by the INDYCAR VP, Marketing, and/or other management in the Marketing Department.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a four-year College/University.

Skills/Experience

  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems such as Sitecore or Salesforce
  • Has knowledge and skills about creating digital content and the ability to support INDYCAR digital channels when necessary.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, written, and verbal skills.
  • Maintain professionalism across all communication platforms (ability to send professional, clean, succinct emails)
  • Manage multiple tasks and requests effectively; ability to establish priorities and details and balance schedules of multiple race weekends.
  • The flexibility of the work schedule to support the Marketing-Communications staff as required.
  • Innovative thinker and self-starter.

Travel/Work Hours

  • Some travel may be required during the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series season, 25% of the time at the job.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 4-5 shifts during the workweek and must have 100% availability during event times
  • Must be available to work weekends as well as some overnight trips that may include attending IndyCar races.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway College Program is an event execution program where students are placed on a team and will be an extension of their assigned department, working in a variety of hospitality and operational event roles designed to serve facility guests and enhance the experience of thousands of venue guests. 

As a member of the College Program, individuals will be placed on a team and work in one of the following areas: 

Operations & Guest Experience 

Roles focused on facility operations like gates, traffic/parking, and ticket selling fall under this area. These positions are crucial to each event’s success and allow the 988-acre venue to operate high-caliber. This team also serves in event roles that focus on guest interaction. Whether these guests are die-hard race fans, families, or VIP visitors—the hospitality group will serve and impact the event experience of thousands.

Hospitality & Premium Services 

Candidates hired on this team will serve as an extension of the Premium and VIP Services teams and will be stationed in various premium spaces around the facility to help provide guests with an extraordinary experience. Employees will assist with maintaining premium spaces, while also building relationships with guests. Main responsibilities will include checking for proper tickets and credentials, directing guests to various areas of the facility, answering questions, and enhancing the overall experience.

Ticketing & Credentials 

Our Ticketing team provides a positive first impression of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway by offering superior, individualized guest service. Those placed in this group will operate our in-house ticketing software and work in remote ticket trailers throughout the facility, helping customers purchase tickets, pick up ticket orders, or solve ticket related issues.

The Credentials Department is responsible for administering credentials to all internal and external groups participating and/or working our events, such as the INDYCAR Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500, and Brickyard 400, along with several other smaller events throughout the year. Those placed on the Credential Team are responsible for helping execute credential distribution in both our main office and trackside office during events.

Marketing & Branding 

Those placed on the marketing and branding team will represent IMS in the community and travel to different activations promoting IMS, our events, and our programs. Mechanic

As a Mechanic, you will service and maintain our fleet of state-of-the-art, high performance, high-speed electric go-karts. The right candidate will have a track record of mechanical repair experience, preferably in the golf cart, go-kart, motorcycle, or motorsports field, and will be self-motivated and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform opening track and kart repairs and performance checks
  • Maintain kart performance throughout the day
  • Maintain track and facility appearance and functionality
  • Keep accurate documentation of repairs, parts inventory, and special projects
  • Responsibly maintain a supply of tools and machinery
  • Respond to emergency situations as they arise
  • Ensure that the pit, kart shop and track areas remain clean and safe
  • Assist the track crew with track operations in limited situations
  • Perform specific facility cleaning and maintenance duties as assigned by management
  • Perform closing duties to secure the pit and track and prepare for the following day’s operation
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1 to 3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A Drug Test and Background Check is required prior to employment
